Additional Information

Bray Women's Refuge provides emergency accommodation and a safe place to make decisions about the future, for women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence. The accommodation comprises 5 family rooms for women with up to five children. Methadone users may be accepted if they are linked in with a clinic and the clinic is prepared to release test results showing clear on a weekly basis. Referrals are accepted 24 hours a day through the helpline. Refuge staff provide information on legal procedures, housing and social welfare, aftercare support groups and an outreach service. Assistance with court papers for protection, safety or barring orders is available through local courts.

Self or agency. Phone (24 hours) to check vacancies and get directions. Interview over the phone.

Support

10 full-time and 6 part-time staff, 24 hour waking cover. Keywork system (2-3 residents per worker), daily keywork meetings. Emotional support and advice on housing issues, social welfare, money management and legal issues. Can accompany to court. Access to a child care worker. Counselling service can be arranged. 24 hour crisis telephone helpline and outreach service.

Attached to a GP service with two women doctors. Access to a counsellor.
